Make and Take Art Classes: For grades K-3
Students will create and take home a project in each class
First Thursday of each month (unless otherwise noted) | 4:30—5:45pm
$10 per student, per class (materials furnished)

October 5th:  "Fabulous Fall Leaves"  Finding leaves is just the beginning!  Leaf designs will be created through overlap, symmetry and use of color; with crayons and paint.

November 2nd:  "Amazing Owls"  Artists will use assorted paper, paint, colored pencil, glitter and found objects to creat owls in the Eric Carole style.  

December 7th:  "Pretty, Pretty Poinsettias"  Spronge printing will allow the creation of a field of poinsettias, just in time for the holidays!

Club Picasso:  For Grades 4-8
First Tuesday of each month from 4:30-5:45 p.m.
$10 per student, per class (materials furnished)

October 3rd:  "Fall Harvest"  Referencing the artwork of Vincent Van Gogh, a visual study of fields, fall sky and the bounty of a harvest will be completed using oil pastels.  

November 7th:  "Tree Study"  Identifying the characteristics of a variety of trees, our artists will recreate their own version in a landscape scene.

December 5th:  "Op Art Christmas"  Bold colors and simple shapes are combined to create a fabulous Christmas symbol.  


Early Out Activities

The Waseca Art Center is now offering Early Out Activities!!!

Activities will be at the Art Center from 2-5 p.m., a snack will be provided and the activity will be $5 per student. Classes will be taught by WAC Director, Rachel James. 12 students max. Registration required, please. Appropriate for grades 6 and up.

Wednesday, September 27th: Art Time: Homemade Slime Movie: Princes Mononoke
Learn how to make three different kinds of homemade slime, have a snack and watch Princess Mononoke while decorating slime containers to take home.

Wednesday, October 25th: Art Time: Sugar Skulls Movie: Nightmare Before Christmas
Learn how to make and decorate Sugar Skulls, have a snack and watch Nightmare Before Christmas. Sugar Skulls are part of the Dia de los Muertos tradition in Mexico and are meant to honor the dead.

Intro to Printmaking: Relief Printmaking

Learn to make and print your very own cards, just in time for the holidays! This two session class will cover how to carve and print linoleum block relief prints. Fee includes instruction, paper, a linoleum cutter (which students will keep) and linoleum block (which students will keep). Paper and ink is provided. The instructor for the class is our director, Rachel James. She holds a BFA and MFA in printmaking and has taught printmaking at the U of M and Gustavus Adolphus.

$40 non-members ot $30 members for both sessions.
Pre-registration is required.
